2012 Favorites: Offspring Edition
January 9, 2013
Late 2011 brought a new photo subject into my life, a surprisingly photogenic one. I’m not about to turn this into a kid pictures blog, but for family, friends and well-wishers, below the fold are my favorite shots of Eli from last year. They’re mostly from later in the year, April and on, both because he got cuter and more engaging, but also because summer and fall were better times to take him out in the landscape.
- Rio Embudo Canyon, April
- Sangre de Cristo Mountains, with ground squirrel, May
- At home with Dad, June
- Penitente Peak, Pecos Wilderness, July
- Modelling Laotian hat, Santa Fe Folk Art Market, July
- Pestering Grandpa, July
- Sangre de Cristos, September
- Walking, October
- Tent Rocks National Monument, October
- Halloween
- Rural Socorro County, November
- Christmas Moose

These are fantastic Jackson…far and away better than anything in that pesky other post you have up. ;-)
Joking aside, it’s good, as a photographer, to make images of your kids…not only do they make gift-giving easy, but they’re also a great memory to have. Cute kid, too, by the way!
Yeah, I’m surprised how photogenic he’s turned out, unlike his parents who both tend to squint and grimace when a lens is pointed toward them. It’s a lot of fun photographing someone without any trace of self-consciousness. And putting him in some nice scenery is a good time too!
